It’s all in my imagination but it is a room with good light, large windows showing an amazing view. A great landscape. Mediterranean mountains, Greek Islands, Scottish mountains, Welsh hills or British coastland. The room is in a cottage, or a croft, or a barge. For me, it is to be as close to nature as possible. Nature: view, smell, sound.
This room has clean, warm furniture. A mix of wooden and glass pieces. Wooden floor with thick brightly coloured rugs. My desk is long in length to fit near the window. It has a docking station for the laptop and link to a printer. On the desk are reference books: dictionary, thesaurus. Images lie nearby to stir the imagination.
All around on the walls are bookshelves filled with many loved books all shapes and sizes. Listed according to writer or subject. But in some gaps sit different sculptures. Items bought because they resonate with me in some way. Framed pictures on the wall. Some of them are posters of places I have been or the better photographs I have taken. The room smells of beeswax; warm and soothing. Adding a shine to the different wooded furniture. There is a music player with large speakers. Music helps me switch off from household sounds or even to travel someplace that creates a create spark. My preference is for classical music or opera quietly playing in the background. The only other sounds come from a large grandfather clock ticking in the corner, sounding the hours as they fly by.
A creative place to be creative.
